Q: Can I get to the theatre using public transportation?
A: The San Diego Trolley stops at City Center (3rd and “C” Streets), from there go one block east and 2 blocks south to reach the Balboa Theatre. For more information on the Trolley/Bus, or to personalize your trip, please contact MTS: Southern San Diego County: (619) 233-3004, Northern San Diego County: (800) 266-6883, or visit www.sandiegocommute.com
PARKING:
Due to the proximity of the Theatre to the Historic Gaslamp District, parking in the evenings and on the week-ends can be challenging. Multiple parking lots and structures are available in the Gaslamp area and most are within a few blocks walking distance of the Theatre.
We recommend parking at the NBC BUILDING GARAGE at 225 Broadway.
This underground facility offers easy access to the Balboa Theatre entrance and you can avoid the heavy traffic congestion frequently encountered on 4th Avenue.
Enter Broadway Circle from the intersection of 2nd Ave. and Broadway and follow around to the garage entrance down-ramp on the left, directly across from the Levi's Store.
There is a height limitation of 6 feet, 8 inches for all vehicles entering the NBC Building Garage. If your vehicle exceeds these limits, please utilize one of the open-air parking lots or street parking.
Current parking rates for the NBC Building Garage (rates subject to change) are: Monday – Friday Evening Hours (after 5:30pm) - $10.00 per vehicle, flat rate Saturday & Sunday - $10.00 per vehicle, flat rate.
If You Plan on Parking at WESTFIELD HORTON PLAZA MALL Please Note:
The Balboa Theatre is not a part of the Westfield Horton Plaza shopping mall and does not offer any parking validations if patrons choose to use their garage facilities. Patrons parking in the Westfield Horton Plaza garage are subject to validation ticket policies and/or standard hourly fees as set by Westfield Management.
Q: Can you recommend somewhere to eat before or after the show?
A: The Balboa is located Downtown San Diego within walking distance of the many wonderful restaurants in the Historic Gaslamp District. For a list of restaurants we recommend, CLICK HERE to visit our RESTAURANT ROW dining guide.

Q: Where is WILL CALL?
A: WILL CALL will be located at the ticket office windows. Tickets can be picked up 2.5 hours prior to your performance time.
Q: How far in advance should I arrive?
A: We recommend that plan to arrive at least ONE HOUR prior to your performance. This will allow sufficient time for unexpected traffic, especially during concurrent events downtown, and to secure parking. There is usually ample and convenient parking available if you arrive early.
Q: Will there be late seating?
A: Should you arrive at the Theatre late or after curtain, you may be held in the lobby until there is a suitable seating break during the performance. Parking for Balboa Theatre events generally requires arriving at least 60 minutes prior to curtain to avoid traffic delays in and around the Gaslamp.
Q: Are there accommodations for patrons with physical challenges?
A: The Balboa Theatre offers Accessible Seating, restrooms and parking access. An Infra-red audio assistance system is in use at the Theatre. Headsets are available in Theatre Lobby House Manager’s Office prior to performances (headsets are loaned at no charge, on a first-come, first-served basis). ASL and Audio Described Services may be offered for select performances, contact Broadway/San Diego at 619-564-3000 for more information.
Q. What should I wear?
A: Theatre is fun – and historically had been a great time to dress up, HOWEVER, in a true San Diego fashion we encourage our patrons relax and enjoy the show in comfort. While some patrons dress in a tux or sparkling gown on occasion, and others may wear a business suit/sport jacket or nice pants outfit/dress, there are many patrons who choose to wear a clean pair of jeans or nice shorts and a polo style shirt. ABSOLUTLELY ANY of these wardrobe choices are perfect!
