Q: How early should I get to the theatre?
A: We suggest you arrive up to an hour prior to show time. Please review your tickets for your exact show time.

Q: When do they start seating?
A: Seating usually starts approximately 30-minutes prior to the start of a show. For some performances, seating may begin even earlier, but 30-minutes prior is a safe estimate.

Q: Can I be seated if I’m late?
A: You WILL be seated if you arrive late. However, please note that some shows require a “seating hold” at the start of the performance. If a show has a seating hold, ushers will seat latecomers after this time period (usually 5-15 minutes). The Civic Theatre has television monitors on both ends of each lobby that allow you to view the performance while you wait for the seating hold to end, so you won’t miss any of the show - you just won’t see it from your seat until the hold is over.

Q: What if someone needs to reach me during the show?
A: Guests cannot be paged. While cell phones must be silenced during performances, it is still possible for people to leave messages to your phone. Alternatively, you may leave your exact seat location (including section, row and seat number – all listed on your ticket) with someone you believe may need to contact you. Then, that person may call our House Manager at (619) 615-4125, to leave their message and your seat location. At an appropriate break (typically, intermission or at the conclusion of the performance), an usher will attempt to deliver your message to you. However, without the specific seat locations, no one will be able to provide this assistance.

Q: Will the theatre provide booster seats, binoculars or hearing amplifiers?
A: For your comfort, the Civic Theatre has booster seats and binoculars available for rent. Rental costs vary. Hearing amplification devices are available for use, free of charge. For more information, please visit the Civic Theatre’s website at www.sdcivic.org

Q: Do you have any special considerations for deaf patrons?
A: We are happy to arrange ASL interpreted performances upon patron request. For more information on how to request this service or to find out which shows have an ASL interpreted performance already scheduled, please click. To purchase tickets to a scheduled ASL performance, please contact the Civic Theatre Ticket Office at (619) 570-1100 or TDD (619) 570-4177.

Q: Do you have any special considerations for hearing impaired patrons?
A: At the Civic Theatre, a limited number of Sennheiser infra-red audio assistance system headsets are available to amplify the sound for those in need. These sets may be picked up, free of charge, from the coat check room of the theatre’s first floor lobby.

Q: Does the theatre have wheelchair access?
A: Yes. The Civic Theatre offers companion seating and seating for patrons with wheelchairs. Please contact the Civic Theatre Ticket Office at (619) 570-1100 for prices and availability; for the Spreckels, please contact Joe Ries, 619-564-3002.

Q: What should I wear?
A: Theatre is fun – a great time to dress up! Still, we like our patrons to be comfortable, and this is San Diego. Dressing up might mean a tux or sparkling gown for some, while for others it may mean a business suit/sport jacket or nice pants outfit/dress. For still others, it may mean a clean pair of jeans or nice shorts and a polo shirt. Any of these wardrobe choices are perfect!

Q: Can I get cash at the theatre?
A: For your convenience, the Civic Theatre has an ATM machine located in the first floor lobby.

Q: Do you offer Gift Certificates?
A: Yes! Broadway/San Diego Gift Certificates are the perfect gift! They can be used for any single ticket purchases to any Broadway/San Diego production, towards group sales or towards the purchase of a subscription package. They come in denominations of $25, $50 or $100 for your convenience and are now available anytime. Purchase with confidence from our secure online shop. Click here for more information.
